Localized INF strings Reference
An .inf_loc file contains the localized strings for a Windows INF file. The strings supply device and driver names in one language. Windows keeps these files in the driver store, in one directory for each language. The encoding is UTF-16. The system reads the file that matches the display language of the user.
A file extension is only a part of the file
name. It does not give a guarantee about the format or the
content of a file. But on Windows, the extension selects the
program that opens the file.
