.NET globalization data

An .nlp file contains globalization data for the .NET Framework. The tables hold code page and culture information, for example for East Asian encodings. The runtime loads these files for text encoding and string comparison. Examples are big5.nlp and ksc.nlp in the framework directory. Newer .NET versions use the ICU library in place of .nlp files.

A file extension is only a part of the file name. It does not give a guarantee about the format or the content of a file. But on Windows, the extension selects the program that opens the file.
