XSLT stylesheet Reference
An .xsl file contains an XSLT stylesheet. The stylesheet describes how to transform an XML document into a different structure, for example into HTML. An XSLT processor applies the templates in the stylesheet to the input document. Browsers and many tools contain such processors. XSLT is a standard of the W3C.
A file extension is only a part of the file name. It does not give a guarantee about the format or the content of a file. But on Windows, the extension selects the program that opens the file.
