Machine learning model data

A .model file contains serialized model data, in most cases for machine learning components. The binary content depends completely on the software that made the file. Examples are tokenizer models in language processing libraries and recognizer models in operating system components. The matching library loads the file at run time. The extension alone does not identify one format.

A file extension is only a part of the file name. It does not give a guarantee about the format or the content of a file. But on Windows, the extension selects the program that opens the file.
