Directed graph document Reference

A .dgml file contains a directed graph in DGML, the Directed Graph Markup Language. The XML file describes nodes, links, and categories of a graph. Visual Studio shows and edits these files as interactive diagrams, for example for code maps. The format is simple, thus tools generate it easily. Documentation and analysis tools use it for dependency views.

A file extension is only a part of the file name. It does not give a guarantee about the format or the content of a file. But on Windows, the extension selects the program that opens the file.
